Instructions for growing sunflowers
Sunflowers are a hardy plant and easy to grow. Each ‘I am beauty’ envelope contains 10-15 seeds. In April/May, plant seeds in some compost, each in a little pot, pushing the seeds down to a depth of 1.5cms. Cover each seed with soil and then water.
Leave the pots somewhere warm and light and the seedlings will start to sprout within 10 days. As they grow larger, plant them outside in a place of full sunshine.
As the beautiful flower blooms, watch as the bees and birds come to visit! Sunflowers turn their heads to the sun, and symbolise love and happiness. Enjoy the beauty.
When the sunflower heads turn brown, harvest the seeds or tie the flowerhead to a tree for the birds.
