Online Therapy with Chloë Swinton
I have been offering confidential therapy online by video within the UK since 2013. Online support has many benefits including accessibility, convenience, more anonymity, as well as being affordable. It may be that you simply do not live in Norfolk but wish to work with me. I highlight below some of the other reasons why this type of therapy may be more desirable as a method of receiving emotional support.
Suitability
I can offer online sessions for counselling, single session therapy or EFT tapping.
Accessibility
Gaining support online can make therapy accessible if you are housebound, isolated or have disabilities that affect your mobility. It may be that you find it challenging to leave your home due to social phobias, agoraphobia or anxiety. Online therapy can be a good option if you are feeling particularly anxious about seeking support or actually getting to the therapy centre.
Convenience
You might live in a rural or remote area where there are no therapy services available, or you may not have transport to be able to get to Norwich where I see clients in-person. If you are a carer or have young children, your time may be pressured and online therapy may be your only opportunity to gain support. It may be that you are particularly busy at the moment and work full time but have an hour during your lunch break to gain support. You may travel within the UK for your job but wish for a regular therapy session.
Anonymity
Although the therapy I offer is non-judgemental and without discrimination, you may feel you have more privacy within your own environment. It may be that receiving support and asking for help feels uncomfortable and you would prefer not to visit a therapy centre for fear of social stigma or embarrassment. Usually sessions are conducted with the video on, however this is not imperative. Online therapy is conducted from the comfort of your own surroundings, so you may feel more relaxed or safe in your own environment where you can put your feet up with a cuppa, and even in your pyjamas if you prefer!
Affordability
There are no extra costs (or time) involved such as travelling or parking fees. You would need internet access in your home or data on your phone, but usually these are a standard monthly cost you already pay. Session fees are made quickly and easily by bank transfer in advance of an appointment.
Privacy and Method
I use a secure online platform called Whereby, which works much like Zoom. This is free to use and doesn't require any downloads, profiles or log-ins. I just supply one link for you to click on at the start of your session. Usually the video option is used in sessions, however this is not a problem if you do not have a webcam. Whereby is GDPR compliant and all content is encrypted. There are additional security measures I take to ensure our sessions are safe, such as the 'waiting room' option so only you are given access to the session. I provide basic instructions for using Whereby before your first appointment.
