Drumming with drumNorwich in Norwich
drumNorwich offers group drumming opportunities such as drum circles, therapeutic drumming evenings or facilitating other group drumming sessions and events in Norwich and Norfolk. The focus is on the therapeutic experience of drumming, not the technique.
Group drumming is powerful, therapeutic and fun. It's also social, inclusive and a global language - breaking down barriers of age, gender, hierarchy, culture and language. You don't need any talent, aptitude or musical ability – we all have a beat within us having spent nine months only six inches away from our mother's heartbeat! When you are drumming you are in the moment, which helps release the stress of holding onto the past or worrying about the future.
A variety of drums of different types and sizes along with percussion instruments are available for drum circles and it's lovely to have an international drum feel! If you have your own drum/percussion, you are welcome to bring them along to play. This could include bongos, frame, djembes, rattles, hang, shamanic, tambourines, dundun, egg shakers, tablas, hand drum etc. No experience is necessary.
Do you have a space to offer a drum circle? Do you run a group and would like to try drumming? Are you a therapist who would like to collaborate on a wellbeing event and include therapeutic drumming? You are welcome to get in touch to discuss, or take a look at my group drumming, group drum journeys pages and drumming at events and festivals.
Caution: Drumming is not recommended for people who have epilepsy with regular seizures, those who experience psychosis, schizophrenia, hallucinations, have a history of severe emotional issues, or people with pacemakers fitted. Drumming should never replace treatments prescribed by a medically qualified professional. Please contact me if you require further information.
Just come away from the most amazingly positive evening with drumNorwich. The energy was incredible. - Kerry
I attended one of Chloe’s Drum Circles and absolutely loved it. I had no idea what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. In a beautiful circle of beautiful people, Chloe set the space and created a structure that allowed us to fully experience freedom of expression, no judgement and no pressure to get it ‘right’. We created a rhythm together, shifted stale energies, let go of tensions in the process and ended with a nice cup of tea. What’s not to love? Taking it in turns, we all used different kinds of drums and percussion. The rhythm was healing, uplifting and empowering. I left the session feeling energised, light and relaxed. I’d recommend drumming to anyone as a satisfying and fulfilling way to express, connect and heal. I’m really glad to have gone and will be definitely be going again. I very much look forward to the next ones.” - Amy
